Salem Sampler Plum Street Samplers Cross Stitch Pattern
Salem Sampler Plum Street Samplers Cross Stitch Pattern. Paulette says, "This is the next sampler in my Rhode Island sampler-inspired series, and it was a joy to design because I chose to work with a palette that was not the usual Halloween flavor sometimes associated with Salem. No orange was used anywhere in the piece! :) The top of the sampler features a "death head," which is a winged skull used on many old headstones and represents a soul whose journey isn't finished yet, a passing on to heaven. The middle section shows Reverend Mather protecting an accusing girl as he points a persecutory finger at two innocent women. Gallows Hill was where the accused were hanged, and although this isn't a very nice segue into the fabric I used, it does bring me to the topic of the brand new linen from Rachel Miller of Needle and Flax, called - you guessed it - Gallows Hill. It's a gloriously rich brown neutral, and I am excited to use it on other designs!"
